"He Owns it All"
The heavens are yours, and the earth is yours; everything in the world is yours—you created it all. (Psalm 89:11 NLT)
The artist who creates the painting has the rights to what he or she has created. The musician owns the rights to the song that he or she has written. The architect owns the rights to the building plans that he or she has fashioned. In creating a new work of any kind, whether literature, art, music, or business, the creator has the right to do whatever he wants with what he has created. It is inherently his. There is no question that it belongs to him. There is no question that he can do with it what he desires.
Likewise, with God, the world he created is his. Everything that has been created has been created for him & by him (Colossians 1). We wouldn't tell the musician how to right his song or the artist how to paint his picture, so how can we presume to tell God what he should do with what he has created? It's his! Every bit of it is his.
The only response to this is to completely lay down our lives at his feet for his use & for his glory. If he owns the right to our lives & everything we have, shouldn't he be able to use us the way he wants? We have no rights to ourselves. At first this seems like an invasion of privacy. But is it? Does the author invade the privacy of his book when he edits it, when he alters the story? Surely he edits it to make it better! Surely he wouldn't want to ruin what he has labored over. Surely he wouldn't want to hurt his reputation as a writer! Would he?
If this is true of artists, authors, musicians, & anyone else who has ever ventured to create anything, it is much more true of God. He has the rights to use our lives for his glory & do with us what he wants. The result is his glory & our joy. The best thing we can do with our lives is surrender them to him for his will & purpose for us day in & day out! He deserves it!
