"Search Me"
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life. (Psalm 139:23, 24 NLT)
On the heels of David confessing his hatred for his enemies & the enemies of God, he checks his own heart. He prays for God to search him & know his heart. He asks for God to see of there is any thing in his heart that offends God.
We assume we are right most of the time. We assume that others are wrong & we are right. We look after number one. It's in our sinful nature. Here David quiets his heart before God to have God examine him, not just his actions but also his motives.
We should have a regular time in our day when we quiet our heart before God & ask if we are right with him. We should ask God to search our hearts & see if there is anything in us that we need to confess. We should ask God to check our hearts & commit ourselves to making any wrong right. Whether with him or with others.
