Day 138/365- Psalm 73:25

"Why Do the Wicked Prosper?

Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth. (Psalm 73:25 NLT)

Psalm 73:25 is a response to the Psalmist seeking out the answer to one of the most commonly asked human questions. He has been trying to find the solution for why the wicked prosper & why the righteous suffer. It seems to him that the wicked do not have any troubles & they are constantly increasing in wealth. They seem to have plenty & he seems to go without. They are full & he goes hungry. His conclusion is that he has kept his life pure in vain. He has followed God for nothing. This is his perspective UNTIL he comes into the sanctuary of God. On his own, this did not make sense but when he came to God, he received the perspective he needed, God's. Then he perceives their end. Their lives are on slippery places & in the end they will be separated from God. But him, he will be with God forever. And this is when he quotes verse 25. Heaven is only worth going to because God is there. And while he is on earth, the only thing he desires is God. He doesn't envy the wicked any longer! Why? He has something the wicked will never have. God.
