Day 33/365- Exodus 6:30

But Moses argued with the Lord , saying, "I can't do it! I'm such a clumsy speaker! Why should Pharaoh listen to me?" (Exodus 6:30 NLT)

Excuses. We have all used them. Whether we are late to work or trying to get out of something we really don't want to do, they are our convenient little friends that free us! Or do they?

We have all had this argument with the Lord haven't we? God commands us to do something that we don't think we can do and so we protest. "You meant that guy right God?" "Don't you know I can't do that?"

There is that feeling we get when we come face to face with the heart of God for our lives & it just seems like it can't happen. Surely you didn't mean me God? You want me to do what God?

The life of Moses & the whole book of exodus (as well as the whole Bible) is God's glory on display. Consider that God used Moses to lead his people from captivity. Moses, the baby that should have been slaughtered, the murderer that should have been useless, the babbler that shouldn't have even been able to speak to Pharaoh. This is who God chooses to lead his people? Moses seems to be as surprised as we are about God's choice of leadership. Why would God use such a unlikely person?

Because God gets all the glory.

God is in the routine of calling out the most unlikely people to do his work. God calls people not because of their abilities, background, skills, resources or family. He calls out the most unlikely so that he gets the glory. If he called the able, they would get the glory. They could point to something in themselves that led to the success of the venture. God removes all doubt as to who is the person behind the work. He removes all doubt as to who is the big mover, the main player. The basis of God's call on our lives has nothing to do with us and everything to do with him.

If God is using you to do great things for his kingdom & you think it's about you & your abilities, it's time to repent.
If God is calling you to his kingdom activity & you know for sure you don't have what it takes, you are just the person he is looking for. If you think God could never use you, it's time to repent.

God uses his people, by equipping them with his resources, so that he gets all the glory.

It's time to stop letting our excuses hold us back from being who God has called us to be. Let's exchange our excuses for his equipping.
