"It takes time"
Jesus was about thirty years old when he began his public ministry. (Luke 3:23 NLT)
Jon Acuff is an author & blogs at stuffchristianslike.net. I've read a couple of his books. His newest is called "Quitter." In it, he talks about how we can close the gap between our day job & our dream job. I recommend it.
He brings up this verse & the life of Jesus as an example for us to follow. Jesus was 30 years old before he began his public ministry. Thirty! We think we need to have God's will pinned down by 21. If we don't have it figured out how God is going to use us to change the world by the time we are out of High School then all hope is lost.
This just isn't true.
Jesus had 3 years & 12 men that he poured his life into & he literally changed history. And we are not Jesus but that doesn't mean God doesn't want to use us for his kingdom & glory. And if Jesus took 30 years before he went public, maybe there is some value in us taking time to hone & discern what it is God wants to do through us!
So what is God burning into your heart to do? What is he calling you to? It may not happen today but what can we do today to take the next step? What's your dream & where can you start?
