Day 260/365- Ezra 4:12

"What are we known for?"

"The king should know that the Jews who came here to Jerusalem from Babylon are rebuilding this rebellious and evil city. They have already laid the foundation and will soon finish its walls. (Ezra 4:12 NLT)

This verse contains the exact reason why the people of God were exiled. The nations surrounding Israel described God's people as "rebellious & evil." I think this is a far cry from who God desired them to be when he brought them out of Egypt & into the Promised Land. God wanted to use his people as a light to the nations not a hindrance to them. He wanted them to be holy & separate not rebellious & evil.

Similarly, the church is often known for being something other than God intends. Often we are not the bride that we should be. Instead of being light to dark we often mimic the darkness. Light & dark have seemingly blended together. So much so that lost & saved people can worship in the same church & very little difference can be seen between the two. This ought not be.

We have to change the perception of the church by being the church. We must be the distinct people of God & be known for being like Jesus, not known for being evil & rebellious.

If people were describing us or our church, what would we be known for?
