Day 246/365- 1 Chronicles 8:28

"Genealogy"

These were the heads of fathers' houses, according to their generations, chief men. These lived in Jerusalem. (1 Chronicles 8:28 ESV)

Do you ever read the genealogies? I mean actually read them. Or do you just skim them. These are not just names but actual people. I think I forget this as I just zip over them to get back to the narrative. But theses genealogies speak. Jesus' genealogy speaks volumes about who he is & what he came to do. It connects the story & helps us see the big picture. The Bible contains a story that is going somewhere. It has a beginning & an end. It has a hero & a salvation. It's all connected.

As I read through the genealogies I can't help but wonder what mine would say. Some just mention a name. Others give a description. What will be my legacy? Will it be worth just a mention or a whole story? What will my family be like? Will my kids be godly & love Jesus?

We only have one life to live & one chance to make a difference. I think about my life so far, is it really who I want to be? What am I doing that needs to change & what am I not doing that I need to start?

All of these questions help discern what lasting impact our lives can have. I don't want my life to be just in a list that someone reads over. I want to influence people long after my life is over.

What would your genealogy say? What changes can we make to alter what it would say?
