"God with Us"
All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means `God is with us'). (Isaiah 7:14 NLT)
Hundreds of years before Jesus was born he was talked about. God has always had a plan A. The only way for mankind to be reconciled to God is if God comes to man because man cannot get to God. And so, Isaiah told of him who would come who would be Immanuel, God with us. Not God above us or God beyond us but he says God with us. God became man to reconcile man to himself. This is plan A.
Everything that has been prophesied of Jesus has come true. He was born of a virgin. He has come to dwell with us. He came, he lived, he suffered, he died, & he rose again. This is the gospel. Even the gospel is clearly seen in the book of Isaiah.
And so this reaffirms for us that the Bible is about him. From cover to cover it's about him. And we must read all of it if we are to know all of him. And not only are we to know all of him but also to be like him. We are now called to be on mission with God. We are to be incarnational as he was. We are to be dwelling among those that need him. We are not to be above people, around people, beyond people but rather among people. If the gospel is going to be declared, it must be done through us as an incarnational witness!
