Day 174/365- Isaiah 6:1

"I Saw the Lord"

It was in the year King Uzziah died that I saw the Lord. He was sitting on a lofty throne, and the train of his robe filled the Temple. (Isaiah 6:1 NLT)

Isaiah 6 is Isaiah's commissioning from God to be his prophet. He gets this vision from God of God high & lifted up & sitting on his throne. His response is utter horror! He says, "Woe is me! For I am undone. I am a man of unclean lips & I live among a people of unclean lips. For my eyes have seen the King." His whole world is turned upside down & he confesses his sin & the sin of his people. But God doesn't keep him that way. He confesses his sin & God cleanses him from them. Not only this, but Isaiah is commissioned by God to be his prophet to his people. He goes, but has the promise that the people will not listen.

How would you like to have that job? Hey, um, you need to share this message but no one will be listening. Just do it until I say stop. Tough assignment. But Isaiah was able to go for God because he had been transformed by God. And just like him, we need to see the King. We need to see the King so that we see ourselves the way he does & so that we can do what he has called us to do. Without a right view of God we will not have a right view of ourselves. And without a right view of ourselves, we won't say, "Here I am, send me."

The mission of God is dependent on the people of God getting a right view of God. Notice that Isaiah is a part of this great worship service but it doesn't stay there. He goes out to share the God that he came face to face with. Real worship doesn't stay in the four walls of the church. Real worship goes out on mission with God!
