Day 155/365- Proverbs 22:19

"Yes You!"

I am teaching you today—yes, you—
so you will trust in the Lord . (Proverbs 22:19 NLT)

How many times when we read the Bible do we think of others? Maybe a better question is, how many times when we read the Bible do we think of other's sins? We hear a sermon & think, "Ooh, I know who needs to hear this!" Not that thinking of others & who we want to share with is bad. What I'm thinking about is when we let the word & truth bypass our lives because we don't think it's for us.

This is what stands out to me about Proverbs 22:19. Solomon says, "I am teaching you today, YES YOU!" I love that. He wants to make sure we are paying attention. This truth is for you! When we hear the word taught or when we read it do we think about how to adjust our lives or do we think about things others need to do better?

The Word of God is for us. It speaks to us. It engages our lives & God's heart is to use it to change us. God's desire is to use his Word to transform us. So, the next time we read, hear a sermon, or are confronted with God's truth in any way, we should ask God how he wants it to change us first before we think about how it should change others.
