"Taste & See"
Taste and see that the Lord is good.
Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!
Fear the Lord , you his godly people, for those who fear him will have all they need.
Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing. (Psalm 34:8-10 NLT)
David is running from Saul here. He is running for his life. He has done nothing but been faithful to God & the king & this is what he is rewarded with. Saul is constantly jealous of David & tries to kill him multiple times.
And yet all David can speak about is the faithfulness of God. All he can speak about is how good God is. All he can say is "Take refuge in him!" He encourages us to fear the Lord & take refuge in him. In so doing, we will never lack anything.
Even in difficult times, God is really all we need. It's in the difficult times that we can taste & see that the Lord is good. It's in the difficult times we seek & find refuge in him. And when we take refuge in him we find that we lack nothing. We don't lack comfort. We don't lack grace. We don't lack refuge. We don't lack anything. God provides in the good times & bad. He is a refuge for us & he is good! Taste & see that he is good!!
