Day 83/365- Joshua 4:6-7

"Non-Rolling Stones"

We will use these stones to build a memorial. In the future your children will ask you, `What do these stones mean?' Then you can tell them, `They remind us that the Jordan River stopped flowing when the Ark of the Lord 's Covenant went across.' These stones will stand as a memorial among the people of Israel forever." (Joshua 4:6, 7 NLT)

God has just done it again. He does something for his people that they couldn't do for themselves. He parts another body of water for them to pass through. They have a barrier they cannot cross & God makes a way. This is nothing new for these people but it is still amazing. God has singlehandedly provided for them every step of the way. God wants them to remember this great event & to tell their children about it. So, he has them put a physical reminder at the site of God's specific faithfulness to them.

We need these reminders. God has been overwhelmingly faithful to us & we need to have physical reminders of his faithfulness. Whether it's a framed picture with a verse in it that got your family through a tough time or a piece of an old house that burned down & you want to remember God's faithfulness in that time. We should create physical reminders of God's goodness & provision for us.

How has God been faithful in the past? Have we communicated this to our kids? Do we have reminders for us & things that will encourage them to ask questions? God is so faithful, how has he been faithful to us?
