"Obedience"
So Aaron and his sons did everything the Lord had commanded through Moses. (Leviticus 8:36 NLT)
Over & over we see Moses, Aaron, & his sons being careful to do EVERYTHING that the Lord commands. This is another way that we see God's holiness displayed in that he requires perfect obedience. God requires a lot from those that he calls to lead. They were called to intercede between God & man. They were expected to be completely obedient & they were.
We need more leaders of God's people like this today. The pulpit is full of compromise. We no longer have to look outside of the ministry to find blatant sin & compromise. We no longer have to look outside of the church for compromise. It's in the pew as well.
The call for obedience is not a call to perfection. We will never be perfect. We will sin. Even the priests sinned. But it seems today we have lost even the desire for holiness.
When it comes to being a pastor these days, there seems to be more emphasis on strategy than spirituality. There is a lot of focus on launching well in church planing but what about the planter living well?
These are things the Lord has convicted me of more & more lately. The Lord has been cleaning house in my life the last two years. At least it feels that way. It's been painful but worth it.
I know we won't be perfect but I pray that the Lord will bring some consistency back into our churches & church leadership. Where a hunger for mission is equalled with a hunger for morality. Where a passion for the lost is met with a passion for holiness.
I pray God starts with this pastor.
