Genesis 4:26, "To Seth also a son was born, and he called his name Enosh. At that time people began to call upon the name of the Lord."
Following this passage is a Biblical graveyard. Person after person who lived, bore children, & died. Over & over this is what we see. It's when people started coming face to face with their mortality that they began to call upon the Lord.
Sin introduced death.
Death for every person who would ever lived.
One out of every one person dies. (With the exception of this one guy)
It's at times of death that we realize our own mortality. We stop asking questions like, "What should I wear today? Where should I go to lunch? What movie should I rent?" These questions are replaced with things like, "Is there a God? What happens to us when we die? What am I really living my life for?"
The reality that all of us will die is a sobering one. It should cause us to ask the deeper questions about life. It should cause us to "call upon the name of the Lord." We should call out to him for salvation that's found in the only person to cheat death, Jesus.
"Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13
