Three chapters in & they fall. Created perfectly in the image of God, enjoying the blessings of God, & the unbroken presence of God evidently wasn't enough. God would have been right to wipe them off the map. Do away with this "human project".
Everything wrong we see in the world today is because of chapter 3 of Genesis. All of humanity has been wrecked because of the sin of Adam & Eve. We see almost every sinful attitude possible rear it's head in Genesis 3.
Idolatry.
Lust.
Shifting blame.
Lying.
Doubting God.
Trusting Satan.
Trust in self.
We have greatly underestimated the deep effect that sin has had upon us. Sin is at the root of everything wrong with the world.
But instead of destroying Adam & Eve God redeems them. He sheds blood to cover their sin. He atones for the wrong that they have done. He sacrifices something of his in their place. Three chapters into the Bible & we see the gospel. We cannot hide from God. We cannot deal with our sin apart from God. We cannot fix what's been broken apart from God. We cannot live redeemed apart from God.
We need a Savior.
Someone to take out place for our wrong.
Someone better than us.
Someone different than us.
We need a Savior.
Just 3 chapters in & we see the promise that God would send a Savior that would redeem mankind from this tragic fall. The Bible is about Him & his work of redeeming his people back to himself.
