Day 337/365- Acts 20:24

"The meaning of life"

But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God. (Acts 20:24 NLT)

What are our lives primarily about? This is not a new question. It's been asked by millions of people through the ages & may be the most common question to mankind.

But it takes on a completely different meaning when asked by a follower of Jesus. For Paul, the gospel was life. He lived to know the gospel, experience the gospel, feel the gospel, internalize the gospel, & spread the gospel. And he sums up what his life is all about in this verse, "But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God."

The meaning of life for a Christian is centered on the gospel. The gospel enjoyed & the gospel extended. Do we see our lives this way? Do we agree with Paul that our lives are nothing unless we finish the work of spreading the gospel?

Often we find our meaning in life & our life's success based on accomplishments & goals that we set. But these goals often don't include the gospel. We have to get to the point where we measure our life's value by what we are doing with the gospel? The degree to which we are spreading the gospel reveals the effectiveness & meaning in our lives.

What are we finding our meaning in? How can our lives be more gospel centered?
