Day 323/365- Acts 18:26

"More accurately"

When Priscilla and Aquila heard him preaching boldly in the synagogue, they took him aside and explained the way of God even more accurately. (Acts 18:26 NLT)

Priscilla & Aquila took Apollos aside & shared with him the great truths about Christ. About how the work of Jesus goes beyond that of the baptism of John. Apollos was declaring the truth of God & the Lord was using him. But, he lacked some accuracy in what he was teaching. And so he gained it & became an even more powerful teacher than he was before.

This is a great picture of the body of Christ. Priscilla & Aquila humbly corrected Apollos & Apollos was teachable enough to see where he could grow. Don't you wish we were all this humble & teachable?

Apollos' willingness to listen to others show him the things of God "more accurately" shows us something about ourselves.

We all have room to grow. None of us has arrived. All of us are growing in Christ. No one has the market cornered on truth. I'm not saying that we can be assured of truth, surely we can! We know so much that is clearly revealed in the Word but this should not create a lack of teachability or a complacency with ignorance. There is a temptation for both in the body of Christ.

There is a balance to avoiding "volunteer ignorance" & also "I know it all arrogance." Neither is appropriate for a follower of Jesus & both must be repented of.

What do we lean more to & how can we repent of this in our lives?
