"Jesus gives, the enemy takes"
The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. (John 10:10 NLT)
The enemy desires to steal from us. He wants to take from us. He wants to rob us. Rob us of peace, joy, trust, & satisfaction in Christ. He wants to destroy us. He wants to destroy our marriage, our understanding & relationship with God, and anything God has for us. He wants to kill us. He wants to kill us physically & spiritually. We have an enemy that is actively, persistently, & relentlessly pursuing our death & separation from God. He will stop at nothing to see us destroyed. This seems to be an overwhelming reality but something we don't often think about. We have a real enemy who is seeking our destruction. This should make us vigilant. But more importantly, it should make us see our need for Christ.
Jesus also says here that he comes to give life & life more abundantly. He wants to give, the enemy wants to take. He wants to give life, the enemy wants to kill. Jesus is everything we need. He is our protection from the enemy & the true desire the enemy wishes to substitute lesser things for. What we really need is Jesus & the life he gives, not the empty promises of Satan that end in death, destruction, & theft!
