Day 290/365- Luke 11:23

"No one is neutral"

"Anyone who isn't with me opposes me, and anyone who isn't working with me is actually working against me. (Luke 11:23 NLT)

Luke has already been clear in his account of the life of Jesus about what it takes to be his disciple. Two times in chapter 5 the disciples "leave everything" & follow him. This is what it means to follow Jesus. There are no casual followers. No lukewarm lovers of Jesus. It's all or nothing.

This passage further illustrates this. Jesus says that if we aren't with him we are against him & if we aren't working with him then we are working against him. So being neutral with Jesus is actually being against him! There is no casual followship that gets us into the kingdom. If we are not with him, we are against him. And if we aren't working with him, we are working against him. Period.

So where are we with Jesus? If we are not with him & have not left everything to follow him, then we cannot be his disciple. We cannot deceive ourselves here. What is keeping us from leaving everything to follow him?
