Day 200/365- Isaiah 30:1-2

"Planning without God"

"What sorrow awaits my rebellious children," says the Lord.
"You make plans that are contrary to mine. You make alliances not directed by my Spirit, thus piling up your sins.
For without consulting me, you have gone down to Egypt for help. You have put your trust in Pharaoh's protection. You have tried to hide in his shade. (Isaiah 30:1, 2 NLT)

Here the people of Israel are making plans without God. They do not consult him but look to others for help. They are depending on fast horses from Egypt but don't realize that fast horses without God are rushing them to defeat & destruction.

Making plans without God means that we are rolling the dice with our future. It means using our resources to accomplish what we think we need. It means seeing our lives from our perspective & determining what need. But trying to determine our needs apart from God is like trying to assemble a car without instructions. The result is just a bunch of parts that serve no purpose.

Where do we routinely make plans without God? What have the results been?

Let's use money as an example. If we make plans with our money apart from God, we may have more cash flow but will our resources be used for God's glory? God's economy is different than ours. He owns the cattle on a thousand hills. Why would we want to plan without him with our money?

Wherever we are making plans without God, we know the results will be to our detriment because they were to God's people. They trusted in Egypt rather than God & suffered the consequences of defeat. The result will be the same for us.

So, where have we seen these negative results from making plans without God? How can we ensure we make our plans centered on him in the future?
