Day 165/365- 1 Kings 22:14

"Go with the Flow"

But Micaiah replied, "As surely as the Lord lives, I will say only what the Lord tells me to say." (1 Kings 22:14 NLT)

We need more Micaiahs in the world. Here was a guy that was not afraid to say what was true even when EVERY other prophet was saying the complete opposite. Every prophet promised victory except for Micaiah. Micaiah promised that the king would die in battle & his army would be defeated. Not exactly a popular message!

To be on mission with God in this world & culture means to be in the minority. It means going against the crowd. It means saying things & believing things that are unpopular. It means saying things that may get us imprisoned or even killed! In fact, Peter says in his epistles that if we aren't facing opposition it is likely we aren't living like Jesus. Our Savior was crucified for teaching the truth!

Our culture wants nothing more than to conform us to its image. It is always whispering in our ear, "Just say what everybody else is saying. Just go along with them." The real question for us is will we be willing to stand against the grain when it comes time. Because the reality is, that time is now. Are we going to be conformed to culture or to Christ? Popular opinion or God's Word written in the Bible?

Before we answer, we should consider the outcome of this event in 1 Kings 22. The king died, just like the Lord's servant predicted.

God always keeps his promises.

His Word never changes.

And we can face persecution for him because he bore the same for us.
