"Wisdom Called"
Listen as Wisdom calls out!
Hear as understanding raises her voice! (Proverbs 8:1 NLT)
Wisdom seems allusive doesn't it? We know we need it in all sorts of situations & we seek it often but how do we know when we have it? Thankfully, wisdom is not something that plays hide & seek with us. It's not something that is impossible to find. In fact, Proverbs 8:1 here says that wisdom is calling out to us to find her. Like a 5 year old playing hide & seek, she screams out, "Here I am!"
This doesn't mean that wisdom is easily obtained. It is obtained through hard work but that work is obvious. Fear the Lord, turn away from evil, seek wisdom & understanding & you will have it! See, that's not simplistic but it is very simple.
I think many times we don't have wisdom because we just don't seek it. We want something for nothing so we like the result of wisdom but don't want to put the work in to acquire it. We like the wisdom that God gives but want to try & acquire it our own way. This just doesn't add up to wisdom.
The pursuit of wisdom will cost us. It will cost us time, energy, effort, & determination but the end result cannot be compared to anything in this world. Solomon writes about wisdom in Proverbs 8:10-11, "Choose my instruction rather than silver, and knowledge rather than pure gold. For wisdom is far more valuable than rubies. Nothing you desire can compare with it." (Proverbs 8:10, 11 NLT)
Wisdoms is better than wealth & nothing that we can desire compares with it! Why so desirable?
If we have riches without wisdom, our riches will soon run out. Ask a professional athlete about this. But, if we have wisdom, no matter our wealth or income, we will find a way to live within our means & manage our things well, and ultimately it results in the glory of God!
The same could be said of our job, family, relationships, leisure time, decision making, giving, serving, & every other area of our lives.
So, I've concluded that wisdom is available to those who fear the Lord & are willing to work. In the end, it's worth every ounce of investment.
