Day 122/365- Psalm 18:2

"The Lord is My Rock"

The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.
He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. (Psalm 18:2 NLT)

It's amazing how often the Lord is described as a rock or fortress in the Bible. God is particularly praised for this in the Psalms.

This reveals a need in the Psalmist & in us alike that we need something immovable in our lives. We need something that isn't going anywhere. That's exactly how life feels sometimes, all over the place. From our schedules to our relationships, life can be very scattered & haphazard. It can go up & it can go down. Life is always in flux. We find ourselves coming off highs & coming up from lows. God, however, is not like us. Aren't you glad? He is a rock. A huge, immovable, steady surface, that can take the weather's poundings. It can take the unsteadiness of its surrounding because it is unlike any of the movable things around it.

God is always there, always steady, always a sure surface, always a sure foundation, always a refuge we can run to. Anytime, any place, any circumstance, any challenge...

He. Is. There.

He. Never. Changes.

He. Never. Moves. Never.

In our ever changing world it's unbelievably worshipful to realize our God stays the same. Our hearts can't help but scream to us, "Run to him!" So, what are we waiting for!? Run!
