Day 120/365- Psalm 63:5

"Satisfier"

You satisfy me more than the richest feast.
I will praise you with songs of joy. (Psalm 63:5 NLT)

David is running for his life. His son has plotted to kill him. The future is unclear at this time. In the uncertainty of this moment David does not first pray for safety. He doesn't first pray for protection. He prays about his longing for God & how he will only be satisfied in him! David has learned the key of being satisfied in life. It's not based on the up & down circumstances of life. It instead is based on the unchanging God who never ceases to satisfy in plenty & in want. David says that he longs for God even in the wilderness where he thirsts for water. His primary need is not water but God. What a perspective.

So often my prayers & felt needs from God revolve around my circumstances. I need this, I need that. I often seek the gift rather than the giver. I often seek God's stuff to satisfy rather than God himself. In the end, the only thing that satisfies in good & bad, plenty & want is God. He alone is our satisfier. This reminds me of the song we sang this weekend at a youth retreat in Missouri. The lyrics are provided below.

Satisfier, I find all I need in you
My desire, nothing else will do
