Day 85/365- Joshua 10:14

"Fight Club"

There has never been a day like this one before or since, when the Lord answered such a prayer. Surely the Lord fought for Israel that day! (Joshua 10:14 NLT)

God fights for his people. All his people need to do is trust in him & he does the rest. Without him, Israel stands no chance. With him, they cannot be defeated no matter how large & powerful the army. God even pauses the sun in the sky for his people.

We have already seen this displayed in the battle of Jericho. I say "battle" but it resembled more of a Christmas cantata than a military operation. The people walked around the city & yelled & God did the rest. God fights for his people.

We need to be reminded of this for many reasons but a couple stand out here. We need to be reminded of the ability of God & our subsequent inability. The real fight belongs to the Lord. He is the key mover in our lives, in our battles. If we are to have success & victory it must be in his might & power, not ours.

Also, it does take some faith & action on our part to walk in the victory God provides. Just because God held the key to victory didn't mean his people didn't still have to take hold of it. They still had to pursue their enemies & conquer as the Lord strengthened them.

So we see two extremes that we tend to find ourselves leaning toward. We either trust in ourselves & are defeated or we don't do anything & never move forward. Neither is God's heart for us. Instead, we must depend on God & his ability to fight for us, while at the same time walking in the victory he provides. We must be willing to take hold of that which he has given us.

He has provided victory for us in Jesus, all we must do is reach out in faith to walk in it!
