Day 79/365- Deuteronomy 26:7

"Do You Hear What I Hear?"

We cried out to the Lord , the God of our ancestors. He heard our cries and saw our hardship, toil, and oppression. (Deuteronomy 26:7 NLT)

In Deuteronomy 26, Moses is recounting all that the Lord has done for them. He is reminding them about all these things before they enter the land the Lord promised their ancestors. Something stands out in the midst of this remembering. Moses says that the Lord heard their cry & saw their difficulty. He heard them when they called to him & he saw their oppression. Although it seemed like God's faithfulness had finally ceased to come trough this time, he in fact, heard & saw his people. Just when it seemed that God had forgotten his promise, he heard & saw his people & the bitterness of their slavery. Even though it seemed as if God was absent, he was present at all times. God's timing is perfect & his plan is always right.

What a great reminder for us. In times of difficulty we tend to think our prayers aren't going past the ceiling. It seems like God can't hear us. It seems as if he has ceased to be faithful. It seems that he doesn't care. It seems as if he doesn't see what we are going through, doesn't see where we are, & doesn't know what's going on.

Deuteronomy 26:7 reminds us that God hears when we cry & he sees what we are going through. God is an ever present help in trouble. He hears are prayers. He know our hurts. He sees our difficulty & he cares. He may not always do what we want him to do, when we want him to do it but he does hear & he does see. We can take comfort in knowing these truths. If we do take comfort in these promises, we may just find that he has been there the whole time.
