Day 36/365- Exodus 9:16

But I have spared you for a purpose—to show you my power and to spread my fame throughout the earth. (Exodus 9:16 NLT)

We were created for God's glory. We exist by him & for him (Colossians 1:16-17).

The whole Bible is the story of God's glory. God shows his glory in the whole world.

God says here in Exodus that the purpose for him raising up Pharaoh is so that his glory may be displayed in the whole world. And this is in a pagan king. How can God get glory in a pagan king? Can't he only get glory in his people?

What this passage reveals, as well as the book of Exodus & the whole Bible is that God will be glorified even in those that don't live for him. God will be glorified in every person's life whether lost or saved. He gets the glory in pouring out his wrath on sinners & pouring out his grace on sinners. God will be glorified in us. The question is, will we be satisfied in him?

Will we live our lives for us or for him? Will we live God-centered, God-glorifying lives to our ultimate joy? Or godless lives that result in our eternal separation from him?

Either way, God is glorified!
