Day 26/365- Job 27:6

I will maintain my innocence without wavering. My conscience is clear for as long as I live. (Job 27:6)

A clear conscience is worth its weight in gold. If you have ever lived a day with a guilty conscience, you know that day was not worth living! Job says that his conscience is clear. He's not perfect, but he has not committed some hidden sin that would cause all the events that have come upon him. He knows of nothing in his life that would require the suffering that he has endured. Even in the midst of what looks like undeniable consequences for sin, Job's conscience is clear. It seems to be the only thing in the book that is clear!

When it comes to living our lives the way that God wants us to, having a clear conscience is crucial. We can fool others with our words, even our actions, but we know where we stand with God in our hearts. Our conscience reveals this truth to us. The Holy Spirit convicts of sin & righteousness. We cannot fool God. That may be an easy truth to adhere to but if we really stop and listen to our lives, we can't fool ourselves either. Now, I'm not saying that we don't fool ourselves or lie to ourselves. We do. Our hearts are desperately wicked and we can't begin to know them!

Deep down, however, we have an innate sense of God being the center of our universe. We are accountable to him with our lives. We are hit with a weight deep down in our chest when we know that we have veered off the way of God.

There's nothing worth doing that would cause us to live with a strained conscience. Now is the time to come clean.
